I am pleased to announce we  are continuing a program started last summer for our young sailors, aged 7-13 : Optimist Learn to Race!

This program is for young sailors who have completed a minimum of White Sail I  (or are taking it concurrently) and are interested in moving from the skills development side of sailing school, to the competitive side of racing. Racing skills will be taught at a fun, age-appropriate level, and will include navigating a race course, tactics, boat handling skills, and wind and weather knowledge. This program will include CYA curriculum instruction, racing in a juniors-only course area, and some regatta experience. Program  cost is $150 .

The program will run from July  8th to August 14th  on Friday afternoons and Sunday mornings.  Please contact me  if you would like more information at 669-7378 or 556-0191.

Volunteers to help with  repair  work on the Optimists and assistance in coaching are also welcome!

Yes. the water may be hard, but the new board has been busy planning for the 2011 season

A few pictures of Australian 18 foot skiffs planing on Sydney Harbour are posted under Racing Photos 2010. It's something to keep you thinking about sailing while the water is hard in Sudbury.

Thanks to Andy Bowers of Lac Deschenes Sailing Club for providing pictures of the Ottawa Valley Masters Regatta. We had a large contingent of competitors from Sudbury.
