Club closure for the season

10/18/2020

We struck the colours this afternoon therefore the club is technically closed for the season.(Flag)
Water system shut down and drained no toilet or wash facilities now available.
Some tidy up work to do, wading pool pump to be removed and disconnected, coil up the hoses and store, any tools or equipment that is out and about should be returned to the tool shack.
Members who have not blocked or properly setup their boats for winter should do so Before the weather changes.
Remember some boats may tip back if not blocked when they get loaded with snow or water. This can cause serious damage to your boat and worse still to other people’s boats. If the cockpit drains are not clear water can rise and go in through the cabin door or lockers.

May 14 2020 Ontario Sailing's COVID-19 Response

Ontario Sailing's COVID-19 Response

Premier Ford's May 14th Announcement

Today the Government of Ontario announced another positive step towards enabling sailors in Ontario to have a summer that can take place on the water. Ontario Sailing has been working hard to stay on top of each government announcement and how they may impact all of our member organizations. We have been working with the leaders of each member organization as information comes out and this situation evolves.

While Premier Ford did discuss opening boat clubs in his daily press conference this afternoon, it will take at least several hours for more detailed information to be available and could take a few days to get the actual wording of the legislation and what that may mean to you. We are still awaiting more guidance from the government and public health on what may be permitted. Even with that information, as many of you have encountered, each local municipality may interpret the announcement differently and therefore implement differently.

None of the government announcements have been black and white; this cannot be taken as a green light to jump on the water tomorrow. It is a great step towards that however and a step to celebrate! It is a sign that we can keep the forward momentum towards more on-the-water activity and continue to prepare systems so that we can enjoy the prime summer months on the water.

Ontario Sailing will work as efficiently as possible to help provide clarity to the grey areas and share information with our member organizations. Each Board of Directors will then need to evaluate their risks and the systems and protocols required as well as consider individual specific factors such as insurance and municipal interpretations. There is a plethora of changes required at each of your organizations to meet the required guidelines and they will take time to implement before your Board of Directors can commit to proceeding with any reopening activities. It is essential that the clubs have completely put the systems in place to protect the health and safety of all participants before opening.

The choices each and every one of us makes in the days ahead will absolutely define what the 2020 sailing season looks like for the entire Ontario sailing community. We encourage you to heed that thought as you move forward. We need to set the tone for compliance and ensure our organizations are able to meet, and exceed when possible, the guidelines as we open to be able to continue to see more and more opportunities for sailing this summer.

Stay Safe, Stay Patient and Stay Tuned!
 Sincerely,

Membership/Application form revision

5/3/2020

Hello all,

In my haste to get a membership form out to you all yesterday, you received a version that was missing some more information and a clearer explanation of the 50/50 prorated option.
Please note, if you sent in the original form, no worries.... it is still welcome and will be processed.

Please see the attached REVISED form.

To provide a little more clarity on the payment options.

OPTION 1: The  50/50 prorated option

Members pay 50% of membership fee now for the category selected ( ie. Family membership). The member's full mooring fee (summer/winter) and any other fees ( ie. Lockers) are also due in full now. The remaining 50% of the membership fee is due when the club officially opens for the season.

Example:
2020 Family membership: 696.00 ( 50%=348.00)
2020 Mooring (winter/summer): 199.00
-----------------------------------------------------
Total; payment for 2020
1st installment: 348.00+199.00 =  547.00  (due now)
2nd installment:                         =  348.00  (prorated to when club officially opens)

OPTION 2: Full Payment option:
Member pays membership, mooring and other fees in full now. Should the club open later than expected, the prorated "savings" ( if applicable)  that those in the 50/50 option would have received will be optioned to you  as a credit towards next year's membership.

Hope this provides a little more clarity.

Please stay informed by visiting our Facebook members’ group or our website.

Thank you,

Robert

2020 membership Renewal/Application

5/2/2020

Hello all fellow members,

With the news from the province that "marinas" can begin planning for the recreational boating season, it is with great pleasure that I forward to you our membership form for the upcoming 2020 season.
We look forward to having a great season despite the challenges imposed on us by COVID19.
Please note that this year's form includes a 50/50 prorated option for fees remittance.
For the 2020 season, you can remit full fees or choose the option to submit 50% of your fees up front (including full mooring fees) and pay the remaining 50% prorated to when the club officially opens.
Note: any member that pays full fees will also get the prorated benefit (if applicable) applied to next season.

Thank you for supporting your club in these difficult times.

4/23/2020

Covid-10 restrictions continue to be in force. As a result the lock-down of the club will continue until further notice.
Given the uncertainty around our ability to open the club this summer the Board has decided that the Sailing School will not operate in 2020.
