I wanted to let you know the dates of this year’s edition of the Ottawa Valley Laser Masters Regatta being held at Lac Deschenes Sailing Club in Ottawa.

August 23rd - 25th 2013



Plan on having lots of fun, there will be two days of racing, and several prize categories.
Registration is by mail or email, or at the sailing club on Friday evening (Aug 23rd) from 5pm. Late registration is on Saturday morning (Aug 24th) at 9am.
The weekend's race agenda begins with the Skippers' meeting at 10am on Saturday (Aug 24th) . The last race on Sunday (Aug 25th) will not start after 1pm.
The entry fee includes a two lunches and a delicious barbecue dinner on Saturday evening.

Scot Avery has written an article to get us thinking about the forthcoming season. He has also provided a blow by blow account of the 2012 Ontario Masters held at Lac Deschenes last August.

The boats have been hauled out of the water and the club is in the process of being closed for the winter. be sure to mark your calendars for the next work parties.

Another great racing season at SYC has come to an end. The top three racers for the season and each series are posted under the "Racing/results/2012".

Kudos to Scott Avery who amassed a record 110 races this year.

Our intrepid scribe, Scott Avery has penned some observations on club racing to date this season. His mid-season wrap  may be found under "Racing"

Ruth Balleny has been our Treasurer for nearly three decades, and has elected to step down. Everyone at the club is grateful for her extraordinary efforts to keep our finances in order. It has been no mean feat, and we shall miss her integrity and guidance. We wish her well in her retirement.

After a diligent search for a new Treasurer, the board is pleased to announce the appointment of Bob Robinson to the post. Bob brings extensive analytical skills to the position. In addition,his qualification as a Registered Professional Forester will stand him in good stead.
