Thanks to all those who participated in today's Laser Bay Work Party. Please see the attached pics. The first participants arrive at 9am sharp am most others by shortly after 10am. By 10.30am we were off to a good start with the boards being stripped from the dock boardwalk. Nails and spikes proved difficult and tiring to remove from the boards but they were mostly cleaned up and loaded on Pierre's Trailer by 12.30pm. The underlying structure and rock fill was revealed. The rock fill looked OK but the timber structure was in such poor shape that the decision was made to remove most of it. This activity appeared daunting at first but the arrival of our 'Chainsaw Artiste' sped matters up and by 4.30 pm the unwanted structure was removed and floated over to the Laser Launch Ramp for removal from the water and the remaining crew celebrated this achievement Most was removed from the water but some remains on the ramp for nail and spike removal and recovery and storage of useful materials. The waterfront now exhibits a tidy looking 'Rip Rap' appearance and we have a 'Clean Canvas' upon which to redesign the future of this area. This will take place over fall and winter. Thanks again to all who participated and worked so hard, |
