As you know, the situation around COVID-19 is evolving rapidly. The Board is keeping an eye on developments and will make decisions and update you as the situation changes. Good news! As of now the SYC is planning to open for the sailing season.
In accordance with the recommendations from the province and to do our part to promote social distancing, the SYC will be suspending the Spring Get Together (our first social event). We will be assessing the viability of future events but it is likely that many social events will be cancelled for the 2020 season. The board will continue to meet through video conferences during this time to continue club business. Special consideration will be taken when planning work required to open the club, crane-in, and other activities necessary to start the sailing season. The safety of our members is our top priority.
All members are encouraged to follow advisories and information provided through Public Health Sudbury and Districts. The worldwide spread of COVID-19 presents an increased risk of severe outcomes for Canadians aged 60 and over, those with compromised immune systems, and those with certain medical conditions. As a community club, we have a responsibility to do our part in keeping members and visitors safe.
Information from Public Health Sudbury & Districts on protocols to self-isolate and self-monitor for symptoms can be found below:

With proper precautions, we look forward to seeing everyone out on the water in just a few months.
Sincerely,
Your SYC Board
